The time has come to take your photographs for your second 'Section A' music promotion coursework project. We want you to produce professional single/album covers and associated media texts (magazine covers etc.) that are creative in their design and interesting in their representations. WE want you to think about:
1. FRAMING
2. Camera angles
3. Mise en Secene - Costume/ lighting/ props etc.
4. Typography
5. Body language
and what all these connote/imply about the ideological values of your band /artist.
YOU MUST SHOW DETAILED EVIDENCE OF PLANNING FOR SUCCESS IN THE CREATION OF DETAILED THUMBNAIL SKETCHES IN YOUR SKETCH BOOK THAT SHOW THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR IDEAS.
Photo shoots will start this week in lessons. Make sure you bring your clothes, make-up and props so that you can take a really good set of photos. You will not be allowed to do your photos until your thumbnails are complete - a minimum of five should be done as requested by your teacher.
Here are a few links exploring the design process in the music industry with designers talking about the processes involved in music art development:
Stanley Donwood has designed every Radiohead album cover and most of their posters since 1994. In this video he discusses his cover design art process. There are also many examples of his work.
